When I was asked to do a classical album, I didn't know what to expect. I'd done a few concertos and penguin suit stuff before, but classical musicians never liked to party after the concerts, so those gigs didn't appeal to me much. I mean, who likes memorizing 30 pages of music for a one night concert and no beer? At least in jazz when you make a mistake, it's creative. In classical music, when you make a mistake, you suck. But the concept of redoing these great melodies, and playing them my way was very appealing.

Chris Babida, who has produced like a ton of Chinese pop singers and has done some great film scoring, really surprised me with his tracks. He turned these standard classical tunes into a saxophone make-out album, which according to a few friends, actually got them to second base plus a couple of times. I enjoyed adding a sad and sometimes soulful sound, changing the melodies just a little, but not a lot. The weird sleeper on this album is "Little Stars" which I got into a big argument with my record company boss over, because I thought it was dumb. He reasoned with me that Mozart wrote it, and I was insulting Mozart if I didn't play it. So I played it, and I'm still playing it. Everyone loves to twinkle twinkle. It works for little kids, for schools, and even for Star TV. It's funny how things work out.
